Hi I was wondering if the Altec Lansing ATP4 speakers are worth buying and also if the Creative Sound Blaster Live! Digital Entertainment 5.1 sound card is a good choice

ok thanks for the recommendation...I've purchased the Live Digital Entertainment 5.1 card and installed it with the latest XP drivers...now I have a little dilema because of the sound card (i fink, cos it didnt happen b4 until I installed the card). When I am connected to the net...and when I download data it makes a static noise from the modem speaker...I've disable the modem speaker but it still lets out a static noise whenever there is data transfer.

My modem is a Netcomm Roadster II 56k Ultra SVD

Has anyone experienced this type of problem b4?

yeh i also changed slots but still the same result....got new drivers for the modem and sound card but still the same...has anyone experienced this? and have a solution cos it is a very annoying sound

Have you checked for updated firmware on your modem?

actually there is no new firmware updates for my modem

well if they are very close in the case and you can move the 2 cards further apart you might try that as a last resort I might would just rip the speaker off the modem if that is where the noise is coming from, but of course then no connect sounds... FatesWebb

if you do what I suggested it is not my fault...
