My organization has recently upgraded approximately 500 computers to XP Professional. Users, including myself, are now complaining that they are experiencing audio problems since the upgrade. Problems include : (1)unable to listen to CDs through the cd player using headsets, (2)music continues to play but sound intermittenly "disappears" and returns, (3) can no longer hear system sounds (such as e-mail alerts).
There is no particular brand of audio controllor involved with this problem and we have different types of PCs that this is happening with.
Any help with this problem will be appreciated by many!!!

For #1 and #3, right-click the volume icon in the notification tray and Open Volume Control. Check that nothing is muted, and adjust the volume levels.

For #2, there are some enhancements in Service Pack #2 for XP designed to reduce or eliminate these sort of "glitches." Service Pack #2 should ship in June, 2004.

Have not tried some of the other options but the headphone jack issue is no longer a problem. Thanks so much for all the help!!!
