I'm trying to get the sound to work. I was told it was working, but the user doesn't know what happened. No system restore either. The motherboard is a gigagyte GA-7ZX v.1.01 with onboard sound. NIC card, modem and video card.
The device manager says there is no problem with the audio device. When I go to sounds in the control panel it says there is no audio device installed. I removed the device and drivers and reinstalled them, ran a repair with the o/s cd, checked hardware conflicts etc... Even bought a pci sound card and that didn't work. Can anyone give me some ideas to help fix this problem I'm having? thanks

Run the DxDiag from the Start Run box, see if that picks up anything.

Use MsInfo32 the same way too.

Have a look in the Event Viewer for any errors. Look in the System or Application folder. You can get to the Event Viewer via right click My Computer icon and select Manage.

A registery cleaner program might be worth a try.
