Audio Packets Crushed

A client of mine has a product called Ether Wheel? to run traces. I use SMS, they are converting their capture to SMS, but when I open it all of the audio packets are damaged. That is also what I am troubleshooting there. So, I have two long shots. Does the conversion ruin the capture file, or are there any devices that have been known to crush Audio packets with VOIP?
