Audio message on remote computer during dial in

Using a laptop running Windows XP Pro. Attempting to establish direct dial in connection. I click on the icon an almost immediately I head an audio message "to complete this connection you must cancel this proceedure during this message and then ..." When I cancel the procedure the server then starts trying to negotiate a handshake. I cannot discover a way to get the laptop to connect.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
