I have been pulling my hair out for the last few days trying to get some sound on my pc after a recent change from Kubuntu (Linux) to XP (Then installed SP2)... starting to regret it already.
The problem is that when i go to install any of the recommended drivers (SiS7012/RealtekAC'97) they get pretty much to the end and then the pc just shuts down and restarts... after it loads up again it just brings up the found new hardware wizard again? It will just go round in circles if i keep trying.
I have spent the better part of three days browsing forums to find people with similar problems but none of the solutions would fix mine!
I've tried uninstalling the drivers and starting again, burning the drivers onto a CD and installing from there and did a full windows update...
I only moved from Linux as i use mainly Windows programs (Ableton, Photoshop, VB, Excel, Access)at work and home and the pc i used to run windows on died unexpectedly. I really dont want to have to buy a new pc to run windows...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
