Hi,
Sorry to raise an issue that may have already been mentioned previously.
I have an AVI clip, the video is perfect however the audio does not match the video.
I have tried unlinking the video and audio which works fine and I then want to move the audio further up the timeline so it matches.
Only problem is when I unlink the video from the audio it dosent let me move the audio for some reason, I have noticed that the top of the audio bar (the 1 that tells you the name of the clip) is coloured gray- This may have something to do with it as usually if it is coloured black it lets you move the audio anywhere.
Hope this didnt confuse anyone.
Thanks in advance.

Problems like this often suggest that the source clip came from an incompatible source. Where did the clip originate? A DV camera, or somewhere else? What format is it in? What is the format of your project?

If you cannot move audio along the timeline, it could mean that there is another clip in the way. What happens if you drag it vertically onto another track without clips around it?

The source clip came from a sony digital video camcorder, which was saved as an MPEG. I changed it to .avi by using premieres own encoder because I find AVI clips are more compatible with Premiere and my premiere crashes whenever I import an MPEG clip into a CURRENT project (it works fine when put into a new project).
I havent yet exported the whole of the movie but when I do it will be saved as an AVI file, at the moment the format of my project is pr.proj.
However I think I could have solved my problem with what you said "What happens if you drag it vertically onto another track without clips around it?"- It dosent let me drag onto another track but that got me thinking that I could simply open up a new sequence and try the clip there.
I did this and it allows me to move the audio anywhere so I will have to match it with the audio by unlinking the video and audio.
Apologies for babbling on a bit.
Cheers

Glad you've found a workaround.

At the risk of preaching to the converted, if you have a digital video camera, then you will be much better off using DV tape and recording at full quality that way than using the memory stick to record small-frame, highly-compressed MPEG, which is designed for emailing, not editing. You can always generate MPEG from Premiere for emailing if that is what you want to do.
