Here is the setup...
AudioCodes Mp114
CS1000 5.5
Have SIP licenses

Need: To only make outbound calls/faxes from any devices plugged into the audiocodes

Question: Need to verify my setup on the Nortel and AudioCodes side as the MP114 is not registering.

Note: I do have network connectivity to both devices, successful pings to both.

Current Setup...

Nortel:
Added a new Gateway Endpoint to my NRS, setup as a dynamic SIP endpoint with a name of CAR_MP114 (tried static as well with the IP of the AudioCodes and no joy, which should I do?). Other than this nothing else has been done on the Nortel side as I am not looking to route any calls to the AC and I haven't even gotten registration yet.

AudioCodes:
I guess it would be easier to just post my ini for this...

Important info:
NRS/SS IP: 172.16.100.2 (Do I have this in the right spots?)
SIP Domain: foi.com

Here's the ini file from my test unit, works 100% inbound/outbound, if Primary NRS fails, will re-register to Alternate, etc.

One thing I do notice is that you are running an older version of software on your device. Have you tried updating?

I updated my config with some of the information from yours, thanks. Unfortunately it still isn't registering with my NRS. I don't know that I have my GW Endpoint setup properly in the NRS, currently setup as a Dynamic SIP.

Also, in question about the software version. I tried contacting AudioCodes to get a box, but never got anything back from a sales person. Ended up buying one on eBay so until I can get a support contract I'm stuck at this version I guess. Anyone know how much a base support contract is on a MP-114?

TIA

I have found software updates through google.

As for the NRS, it doesn't matter if you set it up as dynamic or static.

If you have assigned a static address to the box, and want it to be accessible in the event of Primary and Alternate NRS failure, then static is the way to go.

Thanks for the tips about the firmware, I was able to upgrade to 5.8 but after I reset the audiocodes one time after the upgrade (made some changes to the proxy IP) it sticks on a FAIL led. I've tried resetting multiple times with no joy. Any hints you could give to get me back up and running? :)

You will need to download the utility that allows you to config and upgrade via BootP.

It is usually included on the AudioCodes CD-ROM that comes with the gateway.

If you don't have a copy, post your e-mail, and I'll see if I can send it or a link to it to you.

Here is a link to a site that has a lot of AudioCodes firmware files and utilities.

The BootP program is at the bottom of the page. I use version 2.2.10.5

AudioCodes stuff

Thanks a lot, using Bootp got me back up and running. Corrected that issue and I'm using 5.8 now with the ini config you provided. My issue before (and still) that I can see on the Audiocodes is that under Call Routing status my proxy registration status says FAIL. The information above it (domain and proxy IP) are correct though. Any tips on where I should look from here?

In the web interface:

click on configuration
expand Protocol Configuration
expand Protocol Definition
click on General Parameters

PRACK Mode should be 'Supported'
Session Expires Method should be 'Re-Invite'
Asserted Identity Mode should be 'Adding PAsserted Identity'

click on Proxy & Registration

Make sure Proxy name is your NRS domain name
Redundancy Mode should be 'Homing'
Enable Registration is 'Enable'
Gateway name is the same as domain name
Gateway Registration name is the endpoint name for the Audiocodes device and should match what is in NRS.
Subscription Mode should be 'Per Endpoint'

Click on Proxy Sets Table

Fill in the IP address information for your Leader and Alternate NRS servers, and make sure the Transport type is correct for your installation (I use UDP)
Enable Proxy Keep Alive should be 'Using Options'
Proxy Keep Alive Time should be '20'
Proxy Load Balancing Method should be 'Disable'
Is Proxy Hot Swap should be 'Yes'

Made the changes (only a few) to match what you have above, it still says fail, but I do have the following errors showing up in the message log. There is more information but here are the relevant spots with the error...

1d:1h:16m:49s [Src=172.16.100.2 PType=9] ( lgr_flow)(3981 ) !! [ERROR] UdpTransportObject#0- CSocket::HandleSocketEvent socket error received, error: No route to host(265)

1d:1h:16m:49s ( sip_stack)(3982 ) UdpRtxMngr::KillEntry - Retransmission of message 1 OPTIONS was stopped by ICMP error. Terminating transaction...

Thanks again for all of your help!

Some of the other settings I have under the Proxy & Registration page of the Protocol Definition folder are:

(You may need to click the Full Button from Basic to see all optoins)

DNS Query Type 'A-Record'
Proxy DNS Query Type 'A-Record'
Subscription Mode 'Per Endpoint'
Use Gateway Name for OPTIONS 'Yes'
Authentication Mode 'Per Gateway'

in NRS my L1 Domain is 'capitalsource.com'

In NRS here is my gateway endpoint info:

Endpoint name '5404-Test-MP112'
Endpoint authentication enabled 'Authentication Off'
Authentication Password field is blank
E.164 country code '1' (United States)
E.164 area code '301' (Maryland)
E.164 International dialing access code '9' (PBX AC1)
E.164 National dialing access code '9' (PBX AC1)
Private L1 domain (UDP location) dialing access code '8' (PBX AC2)
Private special number 1 field is blank
Private special number 2 field is blank
Static endpoint address type 'IP version 4'
Static Endpoint address field is blank
H.323 Support 'H.323 not supported'
SIP support 'Dynamic SIP endpoint'
SIP transport 'UDP'
SIP port '5060'
Network Connection Server Enabled is not checked

Just an update, still stuck at the point of getting no route to host. Switched everything over to TCP and I get an error of "Connection Refused". I've verified I can ping back and forth, have even taken the MediaPack and placed it on the same subnet/switch as my NRS. I think I will need to get a support contract possibly...not a lot of information out there on this particular issue.

Something is definitely wrong if you are still not connecting. I looked into support a while ago, and it seemed to be reasonably priced.

Good luck.

Ah ha, I finally sat down and just went over all the SIP configurations. I forgot that I have two Sigs, one is SIP and one is H323. The SIP one is for a SIP service, so I could not use that one. I'm trying to enable SIP on the H323 one right now, but it keeps asking me for a gateway endpoint name and password. I don't have authentication enabled so according to the docs I shouldn't have to enter this information. Any idea about this one?

Is your question in reference to enabling the SIP functionality of the signaling server?

Yes I actually just entered in authentication information for now, but I have to wait anyway since I need to reset my SS before the changes will take. Once I get registered then I can start testing some calls. Luckily I have everything else setup and working for that (have other SIP devices I call on right now). Just need to create the steering codes and routing entries in the NRS.

I did switch over to H323 to test with and was able to register. Didn't want to take it any farther though since I will be using SIP.

Alright. Sounds like you have the last bits nailed down.

Have fun!

Looks like all the pieces are in place except for the fact that my NRS is showing my SigServer and my AudioCodes as not being registered on SIP. (Go into gateways and where your IP address would be it says "Not Registered")But in the audiocodes device it shows the proxy registration status as OK, and I'm not getting any error messages when trying to call or at any time.

The issue I'm facing right now is because it shows as Not Registered in the NRS, the NRS is not able to route the calls because it thinks those endpoints are not available.

Any thoughts what I need to check?

Ok just got the AudioCodes showing as registered (case sensitive domain names!), but I'm still not getting registration on the SigServer for SIP (yes on H323).

OK, missed the service domain at the bottom of the SigServer configuration. Got that fixed (case sensitive AGAIN!). Now I've got some type of routing issue, I've got routing entries in my AudioCodes gwe but when doing a SIP routing test it says no entries found...
