Hi all,

I am new in this Opentext World...

I have a problem after making a Manual Object Import using a control file.

It seems that someone did not use the clear = "true" statement for some attributes in the control file and the consecuence is that the attrributes without the clear = "true" statement cannot be manually updated.

Is there a way that I could fix this issue without making a new Manual Object Import?

editing of attributes in the livelink gui is permission based when you look at your permissions
do you have "EA" or did you use the 'Admin' account to verify this?

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Hi,

I tried with several users, one of them I am sure that is administrator and I cant edit the attributes.

Your answer brings me to another question... how can I make sure that my user have administrator access?

I already put my user into the administrator group, but I still can't edit group users or access to system report.

Any help would be appreciatted.

ask in your organization who knows the password for the userid called 'admin' or find a user in your org who has "SA" in their profile
Have them attempt the editing and you watch it.If it works as intended then ask them if you can have "EA" on the permission set.A user who
does not have "Edit Permissions" on the object cannot know what granularity permissions are set.In livelink SA priv users have bypass to any permissions on the object so that is and easy way to see if permissions are in fact the problem or if livelink code is.

well if a SA cannot update individual attributes there may be something amiss in your livelink.By any chance are you referring as attributes update to the category object update?
Typically one creates a metadata template for e.g
mytextattribute:some space to enter
myintegerattribute:integer
mypopup:yes/no

When you use OI or the GUI to apply this category you CANNOT change the left side
structure that is you can manipulate the "VALUES" not the definition.

The clear command basically instructs livelink to clear any existing attribute "VALUES"
contained on the node and update it with new values

If catgory update is what you want then it is done on the category object and not at
the node category page.

If you have checked all your ducks in a row time to see if you can actually do the
things manually sing the gui and then see if OI code is at fault and report
it to opentext

Hi,

I think that I didn't use the the clear command in my Control File.

My control File has about 5000 documents and then my user made some modifications to the documents in OpenText.

If I delete the category and assign it again the problem is solved, but as u could understand, I can't do this for the 5000 documents.

Is there a way that I could use a Control File that just update the values of the category attributes and use the clear command without updating the documents content?
