attention manager: transaction log errors

Been having the following error message appear on several terminals lately.

"attention manager: transaction log errors, please call tech support"

This message appears on the terminal log in screen in red just below the number pad. It looks scary, as if there will be an impending trans.log crash but other than these messages everything seems ok.

After the EOD grind the message goes away then begins happening maybe next day, maybe not for a week.

Please, any ideas.
Aloha TS 6.19

The trans.log is the main file Aloha uses to store all the transactions from the terminals. I is an encrypted dos file. Network issues, hard drive errors or terminals crashing or refreshing while in the middle of an order will usually cause corruption.

To prevent log errors,

Never refresh while a server is logged into foh on a terminal, always have a battery backup on each terminal and the server, especially if you have bad power conditions.

If you have a terminal that is having problems, locking up, rebooting get it fixed, network errors will cause the floating logo on the terminal to freeze then speed up.

Omit the aloha directory for virus scanning, or at least the newdata, data, edc and bin folders.

For network errors run a constant ping command on the server for each terminal for 30min or so..

DOS window
Run-CMD -

type in ping term1 -t

do a seperate dos window for each terminal and watch for errors.

Thanx, all good advice. I have 8 terminals with only 1 really older clone. The busiest kitchen printer is driven off this old terminal. Just hardwired the kitchen printer to a newer terminal and already seems to be helping.

Will stage a new terminal this week and hopefully that was the problem. Much appreciated.
