Anybody had this bad experience before?
A popup the intercepts windows GUI and asks for an activation key, and subsequently to pay for reactivating Windows.
It's the hardest malware I come across. I did all the tricks I knew to remove it but it is so persistant.

Any help to totally eliminate this nasty virus would be GREATLY appreciated.

Meanwhile, a big advice for the rest of us: DO NOT download this 'game' IMonesDigger.

Regards
Eman

First download these things below.

avg anti spyware
(set it to delete anything it finds)

download ccleaner

download hijackthis

download eusing free reigstry cleaner

Run avg, ccleaner and registry cleaner in safe mode. Run ccleaner first, then avg anti spyware, then registry cleaner. remove anything they find

Load in windows, open up hijack this , choose do a system scan and save a logfile and then post the logfile on here. Do not attempt to fix anything on it unless you know what you are doing as not everything it shows is bad.

Also what antivirus are you using?

Thank you for this quick response and advice.
I am using AVG antivirus and have already run the ewido online scanner and let it delete everything and then I ran Registry mechanics and cleaned whatever it could.
Then I removed the subfolders and registry entries named Alawar, all in safe mode, and then rebooted to windows and it looked fine for a few moments and suddenly, like a timed bomb, it popped up behind a blue curten that covers windows and even prevents Ctrl-Alt Del from appearing (so I could stop processes). Well, I also tried to uninstall a few things in Add/remove software but could not do that in safe mode.
I'll do it all over again following your instructions. I hope that will work.

Thanks again.

By the way, I had a problem with AVG at the same time this virus appears. In safe mode, AVG asked me for a licence number although I had a free edition. I had to uninstall and tried to re-install, but some part could not be installed while in safe mode, so I cannot use AVG.

Now the log file you asked for:

You are infected with a trojan. avg anti spyware should work in safe mode, it is free as long as you dont mind not having real time protection.
