I have a real winner here. In actuality, it's not THAT hard, but I have burned myself out on it and can't 'see the forest thru the trees'. In other words, the answer is right in front of me... and I just can't get it.

I have a database that I am pulling RS's out of and displaying in html. No big thing there. However, I want to add a button (or whatever, it's not important yet) that will allow the person viewing this data to be able to click it and turn it into an excel spreadsheet.

I am most of the way there, but I can't get anything that comes close to working. I have it opening in a new window, specifying the MIME type ms/excel but something is amiss.

The irony is that when I'm at the computer that has the project on it, I can't access this website and vice versa, so I have little data to throw out with the exception of what my objective is. It's an NT platform, btw.

hi,
i am not solving ur problem, the way u want...but well letme give a try...if u r using IE browser, then why dont u open a Excel application in the background and copy the values from ur page into a spreadsheet and save it...

well this is just an idea, not even sure how useful or silly is this....i will try for a more better idea sometime later.....

I think the idea is that it will completely dynamic...

I will be interested to see how this is done...

BB101: Exactly right.

The only advice I have gotten is when a user submits a for or a query, they can choose to have it appear as a spreadsheet. That won't quite work in this situation as the user has to be able to view the data first with the option to convert to a spreadsheet to print, save, whatever.

There are only two parts to one page that is static on this whole site. It's been quite a challenge. ;) "It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission." - Rear Admiral Dr. Grace Hopper

bra1niac,

I'm using frames in my web pages that displays a table in the second page. If the "Excel" checkbox is checked then I refresh the table page using the following. The table is then displayed in Excel.

Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"
