I have 3 attendants on my Magix. All 3 are programmed to ring. It seems that sometimes two are picking up incoming calls at the same time. Is this a default setting? I know that if you just pickup a ringing telephone you should get the ringing call. Might I need to put privacy buttons on the phones?

But isn't there automatically a system wide privacy? Do attendants not have this feature if you are using multiple attendants?

Privacy off is default. Don't ask me why. Just resovled the same issue in one of our locations.

If you are dealing with a limited number of phones, you can program a button on the phone (assuming you have one open) to turn on/off privacy. Turn it on, and then remove the button.

I have programmed this on the phones and they still pick up on each others calls. I hate this piece of junk phone system!

When your attendant's answer a call, are they hitting an actual line button, or are they answering the call on an SA button?

The system is squared, the phone is ringing and they just pick up the handset.

I have a simalar problem. I followed the advice above and programmed all the phones to have a privacy button, enabled it, and then removed the button.

New Problem. Any calls received at x100 (Operator console) continue to flash on that phone. Additionally, the operator can cut into any call that has been answered at that station & transfered to another.

I want to stop the operator phone from picking up calls that have been transfered.

Two questions.
1) See Franke's post above: Does the operator hit an acutal line or SA Line?
2) Have you tried leaving the privacy button on the operator's phone?

1) Not entirely sure. We recently reprogrammed the system to not have line appearances, although the phone appears that way. I'll check.
2) No, but I will.

Squared means 1 button for 1 line. The call comes in on a line button. Why would this make a difference? How would an incoming call ring mutiple SA buttons on different phones simultaneously?

Privacy only affects shared personal lines, shared system access buttons and barge in. (Note that a QCC cannot use privacy.

In Key mode, the Merlin behaves as just that, an old 1A2 type system (with admittedly more features) were everyone has access to all the lines and just like that system, if you hit a line button that was in use, you bridged onto that call.

The same holds true in Hybrid/PBX mode if you have individual line appearences on your DLC or other phones, if they answer the call by hitting the actual line button as apposed to using the SA button(s), privacy will have no effect.

If your customer insists on having individual line appearances, they **MUST** be instructed to use the SA buttons, NOT the line appearance buttons.

Why have a privacy button if it doesn't work? That doesn't make sense to me. I know it doesn't have to. I have a doctors office where there are 3 attendants. I have individual buttons for each line. These ladies aren't too bright. They can't imagine having to do a call pickup. So, they just put a call on hold and announce what line it's on over the paging. Do I have any options here?
