Attempting to run sqlplus in Unix

I am attempting to run sqlplus in Unix and I am getting the following errors:

Message file sp1<lang>.msb not found
Error 6 initializing SQL*Plus

Does anybody know what this means? I found sp1us.msb but it looks like sqlplus isn't finding it.

Set up the right value for ORACLE_HOME
& in
LD_LIBRARY_PATH include $ORACLE_HOME/lib
