I have an application created with VFP 9 which is being used in a number of offices under Windows XP. Recently, a user with Windows 7 is now getting the message "attemting to lock" requiring them to reboot to get out whenever other users are in the Foxpro application. This foxpro application in the same offices works fine on work stations using XP or Vista. When the user with windows 7 is in the Foxpro application, it prevents other users running Windows XP from using the same foxpro application. The users get the attempting to lock error message. Does anyone know if there is a setting in Windows 7 which might correct this? Does anyone know the cause? Thanks for your attention.

Hi

Where is the data being held? Is it on a network?

I think this is an opportunistic locking problem.

Windows 7 is the first, I think, generation of desktop ops to enforce the adoption of Op Locking through the use of SMB2... it is a devil to turn off!
