attachments take ages to open from public folders within Outlook 2003

Hi chaps, I have a strange problem on one of the machines in my office.

I have a Dell GX240 with 256MB RAM. It is very slow opening mainly .doc attachments from the inbox or public folders within outlook 2003. It happens with any attachment, but .docs are what we're concerned with.

I've reinstalled office, disabled virus scanner, service packed Windows 2000 to SP4.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Word docs open within about 10 seconds from the local hard disk, but are taking 30-60 seconds from outlook.
