For example, an attachment is sent to 50 users on 3 different servers. Is 1 copy of the attachment stored locally on each of the 3 servers, or is the attachment stored in 50 different users mailboxes?
Indeed, the number of servers matters not, it is the number of recipients.
So that funny movie file weighing in at 7MB that you just sent to your joke list of 150 people is straining the pipe for a respectable gigabyte of data.
That is why admins all over the planet are pulling their hair out every time someone does a Reply To All with History and omits to remove the attachments (that have already been sent twenty times).
Unless your servers have implemented Single Storage, in which case the attachment will only be stored once per server (but still sent multiple times - can't have everything).
