Hi, this is a problem that I've been trying to figure out for a while now. I have Notes 4.6 on over 200 client machines, Domino R5 on the server. Some users are complaining that when they open attachments, they're nothing but garbage, but when they log on to the server from the internet and access Notes from the web, they can open the attachments without a problem. It doesn't matter what type of attachment it is, they can't open it from the client software but they can open it from the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

lame reply: have you considered upgrading your clients to R5? ;-)

Hi, thanks for the reply. I actually have over 300 users total and we are not going to stay with Lotus Notes. We're switching to Exchange within the next year so I don't want to upgrade all users just to turn around and change systems. Do you think that upgrading would solve that problem? It's a strange problem, I know.

what are the email format preferences in the person documents of your users?
you could try setting it to NotesRich text instead of MIME/no preference

Well, I changed it to Rich Text Format instead of MIME and still no luck. I finally called IBM and talked to a Notes Engineer, they said to upgrade the client to the same level as the server. So I guess that's my next step, upgrade and see if that works.
