I have been trying to attach an Access table to one of our reports using Access/Excel (DAO) connection with a left outer join. However when i run the report none of the data from the access table appears. I've linked it using two fields, both fields from the original data source and the access datasource are in exactly the same format (String, lenth 1). Any ideas or suggestions?

Cheers

Hi,
What database is the base file ?

Many times, a join between different database types ( Oracle to Access, for example) will be an EQUAL join regardless of what you select as the join type..

The Driver ( DAO) may also restrict the join but, usually, in that case the join types are not selectable.

Create an ODBC connection to the Access data, then bring it into the report. Always worked for me.

hi, sorry its been a long time but i've now come back to this problem. I've set up my access database using an ODBC connection. However i get an error saying "Failed to retrieve data from the database" and then an error saying "Invalid Argument provided"

my main database runs off an attunity.dsn driver and is connected via OBDC.

Any ideas, i'm a bit stumped as to why it won't work.

Cheers
