Hi,

I have done a full backup of a database on a 2005 Express Edition and
I'm trying to attach it to a 2005 Standard Server.

When I try to attach it on the target server, it is looking for the .mdf file but
I didn't copy the .mdf file. I just used the backup feature on the Express edition
and called the backup pren01.bak.

The error message is "pren01.bak is not a primary database file".

What are the other options to attach this database.

Thanks.

Ton

Right.

Since you created a backup of the SQL Express database, you will need to do a RESTORE on the SQL Standard instance.

I tried it before attempting Attach.
The Restore error is

"The backup set holds a backup of a database other than the existing 'pren01' database"

Check your restore as path and select the force overwrite of existing database.
