Attach file - SQR process

I am writing a mod that performs a flat-file load into two tables. Instead of specifing a file location as a run control parameter, I would like the user to attach the file in the UI. I see that this is implemented in 8.4 Financials, in the GL_EXCL_JRNL process. HOWEVER, this is an app engine process.

Is this file attachment functionality only meant to be used in an app engine process? If not, can someone show me how to read an 'attached' file within an SQR process?
