attach document to email directly from sharepoint

Im surely missing something but Im confoozled.
Whats the easiest way to attach a document from a site within Sharepoint to an email?
I could goto site and copy the document to my local drive, then attach, this is quick and easy.
Is it possible to use the attach icon in outlook and browse to the site where the document lives?
Or do I need to type in the url of where the document lives? Which it would be easier at this point to just copy it to my local drive.

If you attach a file in outlook, you should then be able to type in the url of your portal and then browse to the item. I usually just type in the root of the portal, and then you can browse through your doc libraries.
