I have a system that we are just moving from one supplier to another. I am not that familiar with the ATT Avaya product, but I am A 40 year retiree from the local company and spent 20 or so years in a 5ESS office.

My question is how do I know how the 100d card is configured. My research says it can be a normal T1 or a PRI. I have the WinSPM software working, but I saw no place where this card is provisioned. The company delivered a PRI and we could not bring up the D channel, so I had them provision it to a 24 channel T1. Now I get no dial tone, but seem to get incoming calls.

The DID lines seem to work, but lines outside the DID group do not work right. I do now have a Sunset T10 to test it, but have a learn curve with that as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can tell the phone company how to provision their 5ESS. I am supposed to try and cut this over again Monday 10-21-2014. I really need some guidance here.

The SPM software did tell me this unit is 3.0 and version 7, so I think it makes this a Magix unit, not sure though. Most important is how do I know how the 100d card is programmed, how are lines outside the DID group pointed at particular buttons. I do not plan to do any programming as the unit works fine with the other supplier. I am also attempting to find out how it is programmed in their switch to give that info to the other supplier. They both have 5ess switches. [pre][/pre]

In WinSPM, go to Print, which actually download text files. Print the T1 Info, which will tell you if it is currently set up as T1 E&M or PRI. If PRI, print the PRI info, which will tell you the switch type and give you the pri routing table, to see what digits are expected to receive and any manipulations are taking place. Otherwise, it is just that the extension or calling groups' extension numbers match the incoming dnis digits.

Thank you for the tip TTT. That will help a lot. I am also going to try and see if I can get a printout of how the other vendor has their switch set. Do you know any other tips that could affect the T1. The t1 does seem stable and now I have a sunset to help me out so I don't look more stupid than I feel. I never like getting into the middle of things nor do I like attempting something with little knowledge of what I am dealing with.

I have just dealt with quick access on SPM. There is another SPM mode under one of the left list options. Do I need to go in there at all? I get a box telling me that things need to be re-read and was not sure what that meant.

I really want a backup of this unit. Any danger going ahead with doing that?

Thanks so much for the help.

I only use the "Standard" SPM, which emulates a MLX-20 telephone set. Just answer Yes to any pop-up when selecting that mode. Back it up to the PC card on the processor, that takes only a couple of minutes. A backup to your PC takes about an hour. You can't browse it offline, so you might want to do a Print All (which also can take an hour or so) to be able look at stuff later.

Thanks TTT. I am on site now to do the T1 thing and get that info. I may be able to do one backup today and one tomorrow. Thanks and will let you know how I do.

Ok. I was able to make a backup to a thumb drive. That I am happy about. I was able to do a data capture. Problem is, can I see the info off line? Do I just load it into another processor to see the data? I still find no info about the 100d card other than the 809 to 832 assigned to logical ports and used as outside. I did not find anything that would program E&M or any other T1 card base programming functions. What am I missing here.

Did you do a Print All? That is a text file that you can search for the info.

Search for the following headings, then look at the info following

System Information
System Dial Plan
TIE Trunk Information
GS/LS Trunk Information
General Trunk Information
DS1 Slot Attributes
PRI Information
Network Selection Table
Automatic Route Selection
Extension Directory

If not, I would grab the following individual reports:

Set up
Dial Plan
Ext Dir
Trunks - General
Trunks - Loop Start/Ground Start
DS1 Information
PRI Info
ARS - All
Group Coverage
Group Calling

If all you got was a backup of the processor, and you have another processor of the same release, yeah, load that into the processor and then you can pull the individual reports and see what is set up.

Is the print all the same as a data capture in the quick view menu?

Maybe I should mention I have WinSPM9, but the version I have does not seem to have all the graphical icons. It has a few on the left side, but it seems very basic. Could I need another version of winspm9?

Never mind about the version. I have the right version. I just don't see where you are leading me to. I have been in system inventory and when I click on the 100d card in cabinet 2 card 1 (or 6) all I get is a notebook printout of the 809 to 832 and a list of logical ports. I don't see a print all, although I do get a print checkoff box, and I was able to save it to a file, but it did not give me card parameters.

Ditch the quick access. Click on Standard SPM. System Programming, Start, More, Print, All.

Thanks Tom, will do. Don't mind me, I am usually very cautious until I am comfortable with gear I am not familiar with. I appreciate your time in helping me out. Brad

Hi all. I want to thank Tom for his help in getting me into this partner unit. Now the reason things did not work right. Let me first say I am a 25 year 5ess tech so I know that work fairly well but have been away for 7years now. This was my first partner and my first pix with a T1. I can build trunks and T's all day in a 5ess. Back in my day when we delivered pots to a t1 we did so with a channel bank in the office connected to a DACS. They would connect via FXO cards in the CO and DACS xconnects took it from there.
My issue came because the customer was with another carrier and I really did not know how they delivered them on the t1. It turns out there is now a T that can produce in effect what a channel card and an analog OE would do. It's called DEN dial tone. So instead of using an line unit OE it is derived on the T1 at the co level. So with all the learning I had to do for the partner, find the software, learn how to use it, make a backup, drop a report, learning how to use and setup a sunset T10 that I bought off eBay for $125.00 with all options. Well I went and tested it today and I was able to get dial tone and make calls from the test set on the test channel set up by my previous employer. Trust me it helps to have friends in engineering and the respect of those friends that I sure as hell was not going to let this thing get me down.
My aim was to do no programming at all in the partner. To be honest I just know little about it. I am happy I did get the backup as the last one was done 9 years ago. I don't think the automatic one is working.
So we port and cut this thing over on next Monday 11/3/2014.
Thanks again to the group and I may still have a couple more questions as I have to deal with the DID group and how those channels are set up. Cheers Brad

RFG you are working on a MAGIX, not a PARTNER. Two totally different animals.

That being said, in system programming, (NOT QUICK ACCESS) you want to go to SYSTEM, Back Restore and then set AUTO BACK UP to WEEKLY. (don't use DAILY)

I hope this helps.
