Hi Firebird,

I was just reading a post you left on the below thread.

From what I gather you are saying that R1 keycodes will work if you put an R2 disk into an R1 machine.

Am I mis-interpreting you ?

Basically, I am curious about this as I need to upgrade an R1 machine to R5 and am thinking would I be able to get away with puting an R2 image and just getting the R2-R5 upgrade ? Pennies are tight with this customer and personally I think Nortel/Avaya should have an R1-R5 upgrade and not reuire their customers to purchase 2 upgrades.

I thought this might screw up the SYSID in KRS ?

Whats you thoughts and experience.

Yes, you can plonk in a release 2 BCM 50 image and reuse the release 1 keycodes!. However, the BCM will need to be peprogrammed again.

I've got a number of BCM 50 hard disk, with Images for 1 to 3, I'm trying to get hold of a release 5 one. I use acronis to make my images.

I'm lucky in that I have A version 1 system with keycodes to release 2 and I could have a copy of your database, do the upgrade to 2 and pass it onto to you.

Either way, it's a cheaper option and release 2 gives you more functions such as music manager etc.
