I would seek out a previous posting, but search is down right now, so please excuse if this question has been asked often.

I have ATT home DSL. Advertised from 385 to about 800 kbps, it never exceeds about 320, which means streaming video, etc is nearly non existent or halting.

There is no option to upgrade here, only to renew. I don't want cable.

Are there any options or software solutions? Is there a way to set a cache for larger programs (video, for instance) which would permit caching for half an hour then viewing all without hitches?

No, not yet, but I will.

I am wondering how much memory (only 512) and v card influence the performance. Thanks for the tip.

Video card will not have any network repercussions, memory would depend on the OS and Applications, and I do not know yours. 512 meg of Ram is 'enough' for everything but OSX or Vista

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

I just checked. I was wrong about the limitation - that was another desktop - so I am going to install more. Doubt that it will help this, but it sure can't hurt. This is 2k, not Vista, so It should work with less.
