I run an ATM network with 5 ATM LightStream 1010 switches - every now and then (with no pattern) I get the following error message on one of my switches

%ATM-4-ILMICONFIGCHANGE: ILMI(ATM11/1/1): Restarting ATM si
gnalling and ILMI. Peer Configuration change detected.
Jan 24 17:43:18.209: %ATM-5-ATMSOFTSTART: Restarting ATM signalling and ILMI on ATM11/1/1.

No configuration changes have been made - any help would be great

Thanks, Daniel

Hmmm...if its restarting ILMI and signallling, perhaps it losing a simple physical connection. Is there any suggestion that the physical connection is down. Another possibility is that due to either bandwidth congestion or processor over-utilization at one end of the link, the SSCOP or ILMI keep-alives are expiring. Interestingly I have found on some devices that the signalling VCI's of 5 and 16 are only UBR and could be "pushed" off the link by higher priority traffic. Also check to see if the processor is maxing out on either end. A few missed keepalives will tear down the link, and then re-establish.

We are only using about 10MB max of out 34MB bandwidth so I would think overutilization would be an issue. One thing I thought about, was the possibility that our service provider had an ILMI link into our network and maybe they are issuing a "clear counters" or something that is causing the interface reboot

just a thought

thanks very much for your help !
