Have an ATI Xpert 2000 Pro Video card - AGP/32MB. There is a fan mounted on a heat sink. This fan is getting loud and I can feel resistance - like a bad bearing when I turn it by hand - the fan also wobbles on the mount. This fan measures 4MMx4MM. Power supply for the fan is off the AGP board. Don't know if this is a 5v fan or a 12v fan, if it is variable speed or continuous run. An Email to ATI resulted in an automated response regarding installation, not regarding the specifics of the fan. Suggestions/information appreciated.

ATI VIDEO CARD COOLING FAN

Well it sounds like it's worn out and about to fail.
These little 40mm fans can often be picked up at somewhere like a Radio Shack or Tandy's, your other alternatives are using a fan off an old 486 CPU, a motherboard Northbridge fan or even buy an aftermarket graphics card heatsink and cooler kit from someone like Thermaltake (although this would not really be economical on an old card)
Those front 5.5inch cooler bay panels usually house 2 or 3 of these 40mm fans (a bit deeper but would work)
I am guessing that this fan is 12volts and not 5V but to be sure unscrew the fan off the heatsink and in 99% of cases you will find a specification sticker on the reverse with the voltage and wattage etc.
If you manage to pick up a fan then you will obviously need to cut and solder the terminals back on (you need to be faily handy and observe polarity)
