I have just put together a system and the lag that I am getting when playing on-line is terrible.
The system is as follows:
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Mb
1 gig OCZ cas 2 memory (placed in slots 1 and 3 to run dual channel)
Athlon XP 2500+ Barton core
ATI Radeon 9700 Graphics
Linksys 4 port router
Windows XP Home
Western Digits Serial ata 150 "Raptor" 40 gig hard drive
Chieftec Case w/ 5 fans (2 front, 2 rear, 1 side)
The problem is that when just surfing the net all is well, but when trying to play MMRPG games (Like Dark Age of Camelot, Morrowwind) on line there is tremendous lag. It is so bad that things are "jumping around", almost like a "slide show".
I have another Pc connected to the router and it runs fine in the game, so I do not think it is network issue (I could be wrong because I am a n00b at putting together pc's).
Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? Could it be a driver issue? Does it matter which drivers are installed first after getting the operating system up and running?
I have installed the latest drivers for the video card, but it did not make any difference. I am a total loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If more info is needed, please ask, as I will be checking back to see if anyone can help. Thanks and have a good day.
