ATI mobility 9000 video problems

I have a Sony Vaio laptop with an ati mobility card. Whenever I try to run a game, or anything else that uses 3-d acceleration, the screen fills with clutter. It clears up and works fine with anything else. Already tried re installing drivers, and everything else I can think of. Any suggestions?
