ATI Driver not working?

not too familiar with this kind of stuff...

when i got a dvd driver, i got a Rage Fury card. In Device Manager for DISPLAY ADAPTERS, it says
"Rage Fury/Xpert 128/Xpert2000"

got ATI driver. but cannot ever set my display as i want. it is at 800x600. when i make it anything else, the display is bigger than the screen. when i log on to work, my work display doesn't fit on my home screen, so i have to scroll around which is a headache. plus i'd like it different anyhow.

In Device Manager for MONITOR, it says for driver "SuperVGA 1280 x 1024" shouldn't this be an ATI driver? i've gone thru the Update Driver wizard several times, poking around the ATI CD for a driver, re-installing parts of the ATI cd, all to no avail. It just keeps the MS driver.

DVD player works fine to TV, if that matters.

Do you have the latest drivers from ATI? You should check out the drivers section on their website, and grab the latest and greatest. Nate Gagne

how do i make the ATI driver be the driver for the monitor? isn't that what is supposed to happen?

You don't want the ATI driver for your monitor. You want the monitor manufacturer's driver. Check out their website and get the latest drivers.

ok i'll try that.
so the standard kind of MS drivers dont work? or maybe the plug-and-play installed the wrong one?

it is a generic monitor. i dont even know the manuf. i'll have to wait til i get home and check it out.
