As of 10/06/02 AMD have released new guidelines for coolers for the new XP Thoroughbred Processor.
It seems that the core is 40% smaller than the outgoing Palemino so has a much smaller heat transfer area ,only AMD recommended coolers will validate warranty returns.
Coolers must be copper or copper based, or have special thermal plating (silver? etc) all Aluminium coolers do not make the grade.
New XP thoroughbred processors will also be coming through at lower processor speeds ie: XP1700+ and not just the new 2200+, so same rules apply to these as well.
Imformation taken from Toms Hardware site XP2200+ review.
