athlon 3200 memory upgrade

Hello Folks.

I have an athlon 3200 winchester core in an abit AN8 m/board.I have 2 x 512 dimm memory and I have tried to upgrade with 2 more to total 2GB memory.Do I have to replace the CPU or is there a fix for the problem that this particular version of CPU has in handling memory modules when all four dimm sockets are populated.

The problem most definately won't be with the CPU rather it will be the motherboard not liking ram type or mix of ram type.
I bet it works with 3 but not 4?
Manufacturers often have a ram compatibility list in the manual.
