ATA trouble 1

We are installing a MICS with 6.1 software on a wide area network with DID's and can not get the ATA to work for a fax machine. We can hook up a digital set and it works fine but with the ATA we can't call out, we can receive O.K. Any ideas?

Make sure you are programming the right extension. If set relocate is on, it will confuse the situation. Plug the ATA in and hook a regular phone to it. Call a nearby phone with it to confirm the extension number.

What do you have programmed as your prime line for the ATA?
If it is intercom, are you dialing an access code to reach your line access for outbound calling?

I think the ATA's always go off hook in intercom mode, i.e. you have to dial a line pool code to get outside dial tone

marcuspb, Nope, you can assign a line or hotline, or pool, or intercom. Whatever your heart desires.

We have a CICS R6.1 in our office. I had to install an old ATA with the hard-wired power supply to make it access an outside line when going off-hook. An enhanced ATA or ATA2 would give intercom dialtone no matter what the prime line was programmed to access.

you must set the ata extension to hotline external,enter a pause(F78) and have it use a line or line pool. The prime line is set to intercom. I have set this up many times without a problem. And i have used this set up on a ATA2 as well as the internal ata on a CICS.

galfaro is absolutely correct on this. Once you get the hotline Pause inserted, you can then use whatever your prime line setup is. UNLESS something changed in 6.1. Don't have 6.1 in lab right now to verify.
