Can you program an ATA device to avoid the prefix dialing. I have an alarm system that needs to dial out and we moved all of our lines to did's .. I have two ata devices but I need to give them direct line access without the prefix

thanks .

Andrew

You have to setup a dest code for the number that is being dialed with absorb length none. This allows you send the call out without dialing a prefix. The only thing that could get in the way is if you had an extension that matched the first digits of the number. For example, if you are dialing a 1800#, you would first have to change extension 1800 to a different number before you could build the dest code.

hope this helps

Go ito Programing for Sets and the DN for the ATA and give it access for the Line pool. Then go into Capabilities and go down to Hotline and change it to external, then show and make the external number Feature 78 then ok then next, and you can tell it to use routing table or pool or line. When you go offhook on the ATA you should get outside dial tone. This is all in the installation guide for the ATA.

Do what endlesswinter said to do by putting it ahead of the phone system. If theres a power failure using an ATA wont work. If you have digital trunks then you will have to use and ATA.
