I must be losing it!! I have installed many ATAs in my time. IN from the KSU port/OUT to the set. That's all there is to it, right? A single pair is all that is needed for both in and out (each).
I have two of them that I was trying to install on a CICs and can't get any dial tone on my SLT.
I brought them back to the shop and used different line cords and switched power supplies and actually just got a 3rd ATA in a shipment today. I tried them all, switching all cords, power supplies, ports, etc. I CANNOT GET THESE THINGS WORKING!!
In programming, I disabled Handsfree and HF Answerback, have no lines assigned, line pool access, Prime line I/C, assigned OTHER in model. I have no I/C dial tone, just dead air. So I have tried 3 different ATAs, 2 different KSUs, 3 different power supplies. It has to be one small thing I have forgotten to do.
wtf???
Thanks.

If you plug in an active digital port you should be able to get intercom dial tone from the phone port without ant further action. Make sure you are in the right ports.

I have found that if you connect the power first and then the port it doesn't work. Connect port first then power. Oh and make sure you have one I/C path assigned.

I tested ports with an M7310 phone and all ports were good. it shouldn't matter what ports I use. I will try these things and let you know. Thanks for the advice. Silver987: that's what I always did before, just cross-connect to the port, wire the in and out and it worked. Not this time. Back tomorrow to try new tricks.
Really have never heard of the Hotline and External thing. Never had to do that before. Would you mind expanding on that Curlycord?

I need therapy, for reading too fast.

That was for trying to access a line out so ignore for now.

"assigned OTHER in model"
Ouch?
No need to touch maintenance for this, leave it as was/is.

Refresher
-wire up to digital port
-Program at least 1 intercom key
-Prime to Intercom

For direct access to a line/pool
-Hotline/External/lineORpool/Pause (F78)
Maybe try this anyway to see if it at least gets an outside dial tone regardless in internal dialtone works or not.

What version ATA?
What version test software/KSU's?

why would you NOT need to put OTHER in User Preferences Model??
3 different ATA's,none are ATA2. 2 different KSU's not sure of software version on job, mine is 6.1. i am using a plain ol' SLT. in the installation guide for the ATA, it shows all the things i wrote on the first thread. although assigning the OTHER as a model was not on there. What is the difference between the ATA and the ATA2??
By the way, this should be a different thread but....do you have a cheat sheat for the SYSTEM VERSION info that always comes up that doesn't simply show the system version? i wonder why the engineers made that info practically secret?? i hate engineers.

so what's your answer on changing the model to OTHER. Are you saying you don't make ANY changes in programming when you install an ATA other than the I/C stuff?

I had changed it and I was asking you why you would NOT change it to OTHER?

I am saying you cant change it.
But lets pretend you could......
There is no need to change it, ATA converts digital to analog on its own, that why its a device....it does not need help.

I think there is some fluke with your KSU's or ATA's not working.

To refresh

If installing on a CICS make sure to use station ports 1 to 24....ports 9 to 16 requires correct software to be activated and 17 to 24 requires an expansion card to be activated.
Under Sets/LineAccess prime to Intercom.
Use a proper testing device such as a working analog house phone.

So I got them installed today. It was the wierdest thing. I will try to explain this succinctly.
The KSU is on one side of this wall in a cabinet with both KSU amp cables on the other side of the wall in a different cabinet (not my original install). There is also a 25pr feed cable that feeds from one cabinet to the other. I was trying to install the ATAs on the side WITH the KSU since there was room for both of them, but no room on the other side where the KSU cables are. so i wired the IN from the KSU on pairs 11 and 13, and the OUT to the jacks on pairs 12 and 15 of this 25 pair feed. It just would not work this way and seems like it should have. I could plug digital sets into the IN pairs, but could NOT get analog DT on my test set or on the conference phone i was trying to wire.
i ended up having just to punch the jack pairs directly onto the station pairs off the KSU and then plug the ATAs directly into the jacks. Then phones into the ATAs at the jack locations. This is not how i wanted to do it but it worked.
So still not clear why it wouldn't work on these feed pairs, and I tried different pair and different stations. O well, it works. What a waste of my time.
Asleep Yet?? Thanks for your help.

It is definitely possible to go into capabilities and assign OTHER to any extension in User Preference.
But you are correct, no need to do that. I was at that place where I was grasping at straws.
