I have a MICS 7.0 with PRI, using an ATA for the fax. The fax is dialing out ok and connects, but it will not communicate with the fax on the other end. The error message on the fax machine says "Remote Fax error". I tried calling using the handset and I get fax tone and handshake, so I know it's calling ok, it's just a fax protocol or something that needs adjusting-if possible. Any ideas how this can work?

Are you able to test the fax on a POTS to see if it might be an issue with the machine?

Is the trouble with just one dialed number, or all faxes sent from that machine?

You could try connecting another fax to the same system on another ATA, and send a fax from one to the other to track down where the trouble is.

Some Fax's Have Problems communicating over PRI's
A company I deal with here NUVOX has to always pull out the fax numbers on to a 66 m150 block when they Use a Cisco Router and hand off the PRI to me
If they Hand off the PRI stright from the smart Jack then I never have a Promlem with ATA fax's

Check to make sure that your PRI is your primary
clock source. I have had similar issues in the past and found
that this was the culprit. If the system is in free run, sometimes you will not notice it on a voice call but it sure
does show up on the faxes.
