This is on a BCM50 with 2.0 using either an internal or external ATA.

I'm having a problem whereby the credit card swipe device drops calls when processing and she gets an authorization, but at the end of the day on reconcilliation, the totals don't add up. The credit card people claim it's dropped the call on their end during authorization, but funny enough, the client end shows an approved transaction. The bank obviously authorized the transaction, but the customer processing the transactions loses out unless they validate and notice the missing transactions. A win for the credit card processing company.

Any ideas?

if they have the auth number, that is sufficient.

if you suspect a problem with the bcm, connect the swipe machine directly to a trunk instead of to an ata.

I've hooked up lots of visa card swipes to ATA's and they work fine. The problem with this one is that it drops the connection somehow in the middle of the transaction and although they have the transaction auth code etc, and the end of each day they don't get a balance and have to call the bank to locate the missing transaction. I went in today and switched one of the lines out of the line pool as I thought it had noise on it and I set the ATA for off site use so as to increase the volume on the ATA. I'll wait for a few days to see if the problem disappears.
