I've been working EDI forever, but this one has me stumped. For the shipment status, in every single guide I have read, or the actual ASNI X12 guide, it says if the AT707 time zone field is blank, then it defaults to "local time" which would be the time zone of the event. The data I get to build 214's is by the stop it pertains to, so if a truck is picking up in Califorinia, I'll get PST. But the X6 is an En Route status on the way to a delivery, and the problem is, if a truck leaves California heading for New York on the east coast, the X6 data will give me EST. Now when that happens and the truck is in Mountain time, I do not get MST, which I would consider the "local time of the event".
Then I read this in a DOD guide for the 214;
ELEMENT CONDITION: Required if AT706 is used. The carrier will report code LT (Local Time) unless it is capable of reporting the time code of the location where the event occurred.
I'm like....what? Maybe I am thinking about this incorrectly, and the X6 should have the local time of where it is En Route to, and NOT the time of where the truck actually is. Anyone know?
