Hey all, I snagged an old box from the town dump, really an odd piece. 120MHZ chip, 8mb ram, offboard IDE/Floppy/Serial/parallel/game controller. Anyways, I seem to have a problem with the fact that its not accepting a serial mouse. This is the standard Microsoft Serial Mouse that I use on my testbench. I checked the controller and there appears to be no jumpers on it, and I tried switching the cable direction and that seems to have done nothing either. Does anyone have any advice (other than throw it out ;) on how to correct this error?

Have you made sure that the serial ports are turned on in BIOS? if they've been shut off or assigned a certain IRQ for some reason then that would cause the mobo to not recognise the mouse.

Sounds like the standard ATIO board, except for the lack of jumpers.
Most came with a block of jumpers roughly 3x12 where all the activation, address, and IRQs were set.
You may need to get the FCC ID number and search for the manufacturer through it.
And since you have 8mb you probably have DOS capability. Try MSD and see what serial ports show up.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

Replacing The board seems to have solved error. It is most likely a configuration error that I have overlooked since I acquired the unit.
