Hi there,

Can any tell me what the AT command SET is to keep your connectio alive.

I know you can so it and just can't remember how to do it. A client of mine gets disconected by his ISP and he doesn't want software installed that can keep the connection alive,

so would appreciate it if any one can help here.
Thank you

Hi

First I would check that the modem is not set to disconnect after x minutes of inactivity in the control panel.
I don't know of an AT command as such, but one way is to actually contact remote services (Eg check email; ping some web site; have an open instant messaging service; get WindowsUpdate to connect and see if anything is available etc).
Even with these connections going out, the ISP may have a maximum call duration without needing to log off and log on again, and this will override any settings that you change or software that you install and run on the PC.

However, remember that modem dial up connections are not designed to be an always on connection. If your friend wants one of that type, (s)he should get ADSL or a cable modem connection.

The probable one was the disconnect on loss of carrier. You set it for a second rather that the milliseconds that comes default.

AT$ on my USR to get help
ATs$ to get s register help
ats10=10

or roughly that, depending on your modem.
