Hello everyone. When I started doing phones 15 years ago, I started on Avaya Legend, Merlin, and Partner. I haven't had much or any experience with AT&T Spirit. I remember messing with an AT&T Spirit KSU once or twice, but can't remember much about them. I am going through some old equipment and found a Spirit KSU with Expansion card. I plugged it in to test it and see if it worked and the light comes on. But my question is: Is this like the Partner systems where if you plug a tone generator into the extension ports you will get 2 lights on your 2 pair tone generator, 1 red and 1 green? Because I get no lights. I was thinking of using in a friends shop, but I have no phones, but wanted to see if it worked before grabbing some used or refurbed phones for it. Trying to see if the extension ports are blown or not. Anyone?

Yes the spirit was was a 2 pair system , but with a 4 pair cable it was the first and 3rd pair that is why you do not have any lights , you will need a spirit phone

Hold on, it is a 2 pair system that can use 8-pin jacks. It is the normal center pair and straddling pair, so a toner with Line 1 / Line 2 status lamps (which are RJ-14) should indicate both pairs with voltage. I would still recommend a Spirit telephone set to test with, however.

just looked at some old notes, remove the expansion unit to test to see what happens
