I am woking on a At&t Spirit phone system. I installed two phones reciently.
They are a long distance from the controler probably 1000 ft.
One extension was fine initally but failed a few days after install. Changing
the blue white feeder pair to it fixed it I thought. However, I got a call
to go back because of problems with both sets. Are they to far away from
the controler? Any advice would help

Thanks Merlinman,
After a trip to the site, new light shed on the station troubles. One coffee spill and a change of extension
port seems to have done the trick. Would like to see a upgraded system but I am happy to support a quality system
like the Spirit 2448.

The only thing that leads you to believe it's a "QUALITY: system is its lack of features and simplicity. You have no Daylight Saving time issues 'cause it has no clock.

No phone displays to fail, no auto attendant to frustrate callers, no lost voice mail passwords, no employees with wrong directory listings that makes is imposible
to reach the right person without defaulting to the operator for help. No caller id so that employees can avoid calls they really should take but want to avoid.
The good old days arent so bad. Just do mac work and simple programming. After the owner sells the company to a conglomerate, IT will handle the new IP system with
business calls ringing employees personal cell phones 24 - 7. And the beat goes on.

~~OR~~ Will it be a "HOSTED" system with no equipment on site other than phones? - That's what I think is thinning out the Hardware based phone systems and Telephone folks that keep them going.

Yes it may. I aready lost an oprotunity to a hosted system by a local cable company. Tied to a 3 year lease contract.
The money could have payed for a new system. If they dont want the providor any more the phones go with the service.
I hope they understood that when signing the contract.
