I am still having trouble with 2 extensions on a spirit 2448. They are installed around the max distance the
controler can handle. 1000 ft. Any solutions to this problem? Does any one sell a booster?

Is the wiring as old as the system?
If yes, they are probably Cat3 or less cabling. Doubling the wires like exs-m said could work, or You can replace the wires with Cat5/Cat6. If You go that route, You will be set up for IP Phones when You upgrade in the future.

I will give the double up pairs a try. The problems are intermittent I thought changing pairs (some are bad) on the feeder was a fix but it
didnt last.
The cable is actually in 6 segments two buried 50 pairs joined at a post, one cat 3 25 pair, one buried in pipe 25 pair and two cat 5e cables
all on punch down blocks accept at the post where uy connectors are used. The last 3 were put in reciently for these two phones.
One gas filled surge protector was added.
If doubling does not work I may have to move the KSU down the line but I dont want to go there unless
I am absolute that it is a distance thing and nothin else.

Thanks
Mike

Tried 2 new pairs that had 10 ohms less resistance. That worked.

There is a small catch with using CAT 6 cable. Compared to CAT 3, CAT 6 cable pairs have more twists. If you were to cut...say...a 5' piece of CAT 6 cable, pull out a pair, straighten out the conductors and measure, you would find that the conductors are longer than 5'.

Good point it seems that the second pair was the one that needed the lowest resistance pair I could find. Resistance measured varied from 79 to 112 ohms.
Shorted pairs and found least resistance.
