I'm at a loss and have not found a similar issue in the threads (probably because everyone else could fix it).

I have one womans phone that when she his 9 for an outside line she gets a hi-lo, alarm sounding tone instead of a dial tone and I cannot figure out why that would be.

We have a MERLIN Messaging System 4.0 and I have gone in to program it with the WINSPM and do not see that it is blocked from outside lines at all.

Internal extensions work fine and she can receive outside calls.

What am I missing?

(I have precious little phone experience)

Thanks.

Print out the bad extension and a good one and compair settings. Its probablly an ARS setting.

Sounds like her phone is "outward restricted" - check that under system program, start, extentions, restriction - keyin her ext number - and see if it is outward restricted. If so, choose unrestricted and press enter. Then also check under extentions, more, ARS restrict - keyin her ext number and look at the FRL level. If it is zero, backspace out the zero, keyin 3 and press enter. If it is not the above - then the dialout code for her extention may have been changed to something other than the standard "9".

Actually, there are 7 ways to restrict a phone in the LEGEND/MAGIX.

But, as stated above, print out the BAD ACTOR and one that works and do a LINE BY LINE COMPARISON and you will most likely find the problem.

It was set to "Forced Account Code Entry".

Thank you guys so much, I might have never found it without your help.

Yer Awesome!!!!!

Ahh - yes - that would restrict the phone as well - which is why Merlinman's suggestion to print out the extention report - can be so helpful. Then you don't have to guess at what may be wrong.
