Hi! I use the Asus V7700 Geforce2 GTS video card... Which is very nice but its got a problem... Recently I bought a Sony 19 inch flatscreen and the computer will not turn on with it... I have to to plug in my old monitor, turn on the computer, and then switch the monitors to use this one... I know for a fact the monitor is fine because my friend has the exact same video card but diff. monitor and same problem. Why is this problem? Can I fix it? If so how? Im thinking bios flash but that might do nothing....

Also the front fan in the computer doesn't turn on when i use the sony monitor... When I use my old monitor the computer acually boots up (all fans start) and i have to change monitors with it running.

Sorry if I sound confusing its really late at night and its a tricky situation!

Thanks in advance!

It's likely your main power socket fails to feed up your system. The monitor takes the major power and computer gets less than it requires. So it can't turn on.
1. Try to turn on your computer first, then after a few seconds turn on your Sony monitor.
2. Try to plug your computer or monitor to other power socket. May be from different room could help.

hope this helps.
good luck.

Ok... this is the weird part... When I use my old monitor all fans start and comp works. When I use my new monitor "the sony" one of the fans doesn't start and there is no video display at all. Now if I dont plug in any monitor and the monitor is not even plugged in to power wall socket the fan still does not turn on when the computer is booted.

To add onto this I tried 6 monitors so far. Only 2 were able to turn on the computer.. the rest (or no monitor at all) seems to not let the computer start.. Even that darn fan doesn't start.

Could it be I got an old shitty power supply or something.. Its not that old but bought with the case about a year younger then the parts in the computer now?

Thx in advance
