I want to upgrade my old pc: Intel pent. 166, Asus TXP4. Currently the PC has 64MB: 4 x 16MB 72 Pin SIMM. Since the price of SDRAM has dropped to an affordable level, I want to replace those SIMM with 168 pin SDRAM for the two DIMM sockets on the mobo. Could the SDRAM on the matket, which is mostly with 133Mhz spec., be compatible with the Asus TXP4 board?

Yes. they are compatible with the sdram slots of the txp4. the simm and dimm should not be mixed.
There will be no noticeable improvement.
