OK this is a dire call to all!
Raid 0 for 2 seagate 80Gb SATA drives
failed access! whole kit and kaboodle there XP PRO OS, mail, pics name it it's there...!

TO understand the problem I went to check out the fastbuild 2.01 utility which basically monitors, erase or create current arrays (hey what about repair!!!!!!) of the onboard Promise PDC20378 raid controller

It reads
UNder menu (1)

MOde stripe
spare drive 0
drive used in array 1
array disk cap. 80026

under menu (3)
array 1 raid mode stripe
total drives 2
capacity 160Gb
status OFFLINE
lower other details for drive assignments reads
channel id
2: sata st380013as capacity 800286
and the REAL BUMMER
? :? failed or disconnected (for second drive)

under the drive assignment menu (2)

channel 1:sata st380013as capacity 80026 assignement free Mode U6

channel 2:sata st38001as capacity 80026 assignment array 1 mode u6

So I know both drives are there but somehow there are not binded.

So I am getting conflicting info from each menu

PLEASE tell me i can rebind them somehow or else YIKESSSSSSSS
SOME ANGEL out there has a patch of some kind?

don't say the word.......

I use here in my machine 3 raid 0 arrays. Originally I used 80 Gbyte seagate drives and could not get any results. The drives worked ok as single Sata drives but not in a raid config. I returned the seagate drives and exchanged them for Maxtor 80 Gbyte ATA150 drives with 8 Mbyte caches. No more problems. The drives installed in raid 0 arrays. They are now running without hickups for almost one year. Some people told me that the seagate sata drives are actually modified Ata 133 ide drives. I do not know if this is correct? I had exactly the same problem as you. One drive was ok and the other channel showed as disconnected or missing. Good luck.
