ASUS CD-RW hangs. :o

Hi!

I got this problem.
I got a new PC that's running on a P-866 with 128 RAM.
I have a Asus CD-RW that came with the Nero software.

Everytime when I started to burn the CD,the Nero programme and Windows 98 just hang there.The light indicating 'busy' on my CD-RW was on all the while and I cannot get the CD out after the system hang.
I got to reboot every time.

What's the prob?

Is the CD burner on the same cable as the hard drive? If so try putting it on another cable.
