Asus A7V600

Having serios problems with a Asus a7v600 motherboard, a amd 2500+ cpu 333fsb and 512mb 400mhz ddr.

In the boot up sequence after detecting disks, the computer virtually stops. After a while it says that it couldn't boot from the harddrive (windows is installed on the disk).

The thing is that the system is VERY slow, getting the windows installation program to start from cd takes like 10min, and after the first restart the system hangs again.

Solutions, tips, help, please...

Have you changed motherboard after installing windows originally . Is it XP home/pro , other .

Has this machine ever run correctly? Has any hardware been changed recently?

If it's a new build, double check the jumpers on the drives.

Thanks for your tips, but it still doesnt work...
This computer is a new build, though the harddrive is old. We have tried installing windows from cd but it wont start after the first reboot. "Boot disk failure"

Then we installed window xp on another computer and put the disk back in this computer, but it seems it doesnt really find the disk. We have also tried changing bettween different ide cables but to no help.
