My 1ghz Athlon was running fine until I changed some bios settings.
I changed the CPU frequency to 133mhz from 100mhz and the multiplier has been set to 10x.
when I rebooted the machine my screen does not come on.
there are no beeps either.
How do I change the settings back to normal?
Or did my CPU burn??

Any help would be appreciated.
Rob.

Look for a bios reset jumper on your motherboard to go back to the default settings. This should clear your bios. See motherboard instructions. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

I cannot find the damm reset jumper on my mobo.
Can I remove the cmos battery?
will that reset the bios settings?

thx.

you changed from 1GHz to 1.3GHz
chances are you CPU burned, exspecially with AMD.

Anyway
try for the manual.
I think the A7V133 does not have a jumper, it is just two points which you short out.

check out the manual first

thanks to all for helping.

I actually set the frequency jumpers manually and removed the video card and then reinstalled it.

and then wa-la, it worked.

I just think that the AMD core is too sensitive.
I already burned a chip because of a bad heatsink.

thanks.

Actually, The Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz chips have been overclocked by many as much as 500-550MHz. Some chips that have the stepping code AYHJAR (printed on the chip) can easily hit these speeds and have been known to work as much as 600MHz faster than it's rating (check out the latest issue of Maximum PC).

I'm not sure why some think that a mere 300 MHz jump would damage the chip, unless the proper cooling methods weren't applied...
